What Makes Eaves Vulnerable to Fire?

Eaves are the part of a roof that extends beyond the walls of a house, providing shade and protection from rain. But during a wildfire, they can become entry points for flames and embers. Here’s why:

🔥 Embers get trapped – Floating embers from nearby fires can become lodged in open eaves, igniting dry debris or flammable materials.
🔥 Heat rises – Fire moving up the side of a house will naturally spread into open or unprotected eaves.
🔥 Wind-driven flames – Eaves act as collection points for heat and flames, making them prime ignition zones.

How We Fireproof Your Eaves

We start by sealing off your eaves using top-grade James Hardie fiber cement boards—known for their durability, non-combustibility, and resistance to warping or cracking. This creates a solid, fire-resistant barrier that strengthens one of your home's most vulnerable areas.

Install Special Fire Protection Vents with Heat-Activated Closure

Next, we replace standard vents with specially designed fire-rated vents. These vents allow proper airflow and ventilation for your home under normal conditions, but automatically seal shut when exposed to high temperatures—blocking embers and flames from entering your attic.

Optionally, we install aluminum fascia along the roofline to protect the exposed edges of your roof. Not only does this add a clean, finished look, but it also offers fire resistance and comes in a variety of colors to match your home’s exterior.
